catalogue composite
5:14pm Wed. June 3rd
an old friend Gary Moloney has been sharpening his skills in his new life as a photographer on my work. He has created some composites of images which acts to some extent as a catalogue, which he has published on his flickr site: flickr/com/photos/gee-em/
exhibiting at Object Gallery
10:33pm Tue. June 2nd
coming up in July will be an Exhibition at Object gallery in Surry Hills of a selection of Australian makers on a theme of \'Pourers\'. This should be a showcase of the work of a number of craft artists limited to objects allied to pouring - not that I suspect they will necessarily pour! ...drinking vessels do not qualify..
I have made some new porcelain pourers to add to my existing more traditional stoneware jugs and teapots

Exhibiting at All Hand Made
11:05pm Wed. May 13th
The year so far has been about a steady stream of ongoing production, offset by some time consuming non potting distractions. Coming up will be a show at Helen Stephens Gallery (All Hand Made) in June. The exhibition brings together some disparate elements of my work: called Ashes to Dust, it will feature work that uses the fine fractions of the raw materials I gather for glazes. The range of ashes I have explored over the last few years is complemented by the fragments of rock dust that have been ground into glazes that are suited to the stoneware and porcelain objects I am fond of making.
Opening is on June 10th. at 6pm

Ongoing work
4:57pm Tue. August 12th
This year (2008) is mainly devoted to ongoing production, with some priorities being selecting stonewares from each firing for a show at All Hand Made next year; refining the porcelain white glaze for two-colour glaze combinations, and more developments of ash glazes. The latest ash comes from the previous two years mixed fireplace ash, and has produced a lovely fat creamy semi-matt glaze that shows its best character on dark stoneware clay
UK Exhibition
1:07pm Sat. November 3rd
The exhibition at the Tunnel Gallery has come and gone...it was a modest success, in that sales were a little disappointing, but the show looked great. The pots combined well with Ian Dunns paintings on the wall, but it seems everyone is struggling to make good sales at this time of year. However, it meant I had good pots to take to Sherborne for the Christmas Exhibition there, and for their stock.

Ash Glaze exposition
6:42pm Sat. June 30th
I will be having a small featured artist showing at All Hand Made in Bronte in June which will be a \'body of work\' capsule limited to using just an ash glaze on stoneware. The glaze comes from a single species ash, Blackwattle, and will cover a number of bottle and bowl forms in different stoneware clays.
The work will be on show from Sat. 21st July, with an opening at 3pm. on that afternoon.

at the Markets
6:45pm Sat. May 12th
at the Markets: probably once a month on a Saturday for the last few years, I have had a stall at the Orange Grove Markets, Balmain Rd., Rozelle. I was selling old stock and seconds at greatly reduced prices, mostly all gone now: now I will continue to have a regular appearance, probably last Saturday of each month, and then more regularly for the last three months of the year; I will still be providing mostly older stock: for fresh work and exhibitions see my outlets in Sydney under Locations
It is nice to have feedback from customers at the markets...from people who come back to buy more, or for friends, because they enjoy using the pots..
2010: next markets will be on the last Saturday of the month, at Rozelle.
Next: Sat. March 13th...with some fresh porcelain, including cups
U.K Exhibition
5:14pm Sun. February 25th
I will be exhibiting again in the UK this year: the show will be at the Tunnel Gallery located in the grounds of Tonbridge School, Kent, during the Tonbridge Arts Festival in October 07. Actual dates are from 12-20th October, with a Private View on Fri. 12th. from 6-8 in the Gallery. There will be a gallery talk at 4.15 on the following day in the Gallery
I will be showing mainly porcelain, with perhaps some stoneware...

red and whites
8:41am Wed. November 22nd
copper red exhibits variations according to kiln atmosphere, with white and amber colours sometimes showing.
some of these will also use a new ice-white glaze on the inside
return of the chun glaze
8:22am Wed. November 22nd
using ash as a component of the chun glaze means that it is subject to the vagaries of the changing nature of different batches of ash: lately it has been a bit \'off\' due to the fireplace ash I had available. I have now removed the ash and replaced it with a Saponite clay (fusible with an analysis not dissimilar to softwood ashes) and the result has been excellent
