Steve, I live in Central Victoria so I\'m too far away to pop in and look at your exhibitions, but I followed up your site after seeing pics on the AHM website. I\'m a new trying-to-get-established potter, and I have a keen interest myself in using local materials in clay bodies and glazes. Traditional esp. Asian ceramics have such a sense of place for just that reason, and in comparison, our modern society seems somewhat rootless.I love the way your glazes pick out the details of form.

You really need to give examples of the cone 6 formula for ash glaze.. it would come in handy for a lot of people. Please and thank-you :]

Dear Steve,
I was very please to see that you have included mention of your exhibtion at Tonbridge School this coming October on your WebSite.
I am now writing off to Ceramic Review to ask if they would like to write about the exhibition and wondered if you might be able to add some more specific mention of the Tunnel Gallery and/or Tonbridge School to the text on your site.
perhaps something like:
\\\\\\\"the show will be at the Tunnel Gallery (part of Tonbridge School) located in Tonbridge, Kent, during their Arts Week in October 07. In addition to the Private View Steve will be talking about his work in the Tunnel Gallery on Saturday 13th October at 4.15pm. Please contact tunnelgallery@tonbridge-school.org for further information\\\\\\\"
would that be OK?
i look forward to hearing from you,
best wishes,
Toby

Hi Steve
I\'m afraid I know little about your work, except I just bought one of your small celadon bowls from the art shop in Wentworth Falls. It was a treat for my birthday this week, and I was delighted when I brought it home to find that you\'d imprinted the tai chi symbol on the bottom front. As if this little bowl was not beautiful enough! I have recently discovered qigong and taoism and had success with qigong meditation, so it was all very meaningful me.
Thanks, I had a lovely stay in your little village.

Well my comment seemed to get attached to the wrong thing. I always was a bit of dingbat - and technology allows me to show the world! However, I do really like the red glaze.

I like the red glaze dear boy.

hi steve
i'm a fellow exhibitionist at allhandmade, except i show those subtle oil paintings.
i bought some of your work for my brother's mother in law a few xmas's ago & have been following your work very closely.
i now live in melbourne (north melbourne), but i am in sydney for work, shows & visiting family & friends. last weekend, a mate took me to the magic festival in katoomba- it was a really beautiful atmosphere. we were staying at his holiday house in wentworth falls, & we had a coffee at the local shops. then i saw your works at the framing place & i was delighted! i hope i can visit your studio another time. at the moment, i am sharing studio space with about 12 ceramicists, & doing a bit of throwing alongside the painting. i notice that i produce things that are asian in aesthetic ( i am chinese, born in oz), so i am particularly interested to study those ceramicists and painters who live in western cultures but who have/pursue eastern techniques & aesthetics.
anyway, i won't take up any mores space, just to let you know that i LOVE your work/type of work & it's really wonderful that you make yourself accessible eg having your own website, showing at markets and so on.

Hello, Steve,
I'm a newish oldish potter from California. Well, I'm FROM New York, but live here now. I found your site while looking for examples of blue Celadon. Very nice pots and site.
The first sentence on your Celadon page:
"Celadon is the name given to a family of glazes that developed over a long period of time in China, reaching its nadir in the work produced during the Song dynasty."
Shouldn't that be "zenith" instead of "nadir"?
I should know better than to question the statements of someone who did research at one of my favorite museums in the world, but if all those luscious Song Dynasty Celadon pots done at its nadir, well, I'd sure love to see examples of those which preceded and followed them.
Thanks for all the good info and images.
Regards,
Maurice

Dear Steve,
I bought a jug from you at the market stall the other day. You may remember me - I was the cyclist. My girlfriend loved the jug. It was her Xmas Present.
I have been looking through your website and I love your stuff. I will have to come and visit your stall again!
